Graffito

"Graffito" is a picture obtained by covering a surface with a coat of paint and scratching it. (graffiare)

Graffiti has been continuously harnessed as a tool of political communication, resistance and activism by citizens caught up in a cycle of military dictatorship, restored democracy and economic collapse. “Graffiti vandalism” detracts, while “Graffiti art" adds.

Italy is covered with graffiti. It is everywhere, sadly even the churches. In the dark corners you will find people have scratched and defaced the historic and fragile frescoes. This graffiti is vandalism.
